MÖRDA is Bongani Mohosana, a South African Afro-house DJ and producer raised on rhythm. Born in Pretoria on 9 June 1987, he learned his craft in the church choir, first instruments, then harmony, and turned that grounding into Black Motion, the drum-driven duo he co-founded with Thabo Mabogwane in 2009. Their 2011 debut Talking to the Drums made drum-led South African house a national sound, and for more than a decade the pair stayed at the front of the genre.

In 2022 he stepped out as MÖRDA, married DJ Zinhle and founded Asante Music with her, the independent record label named after their daughter. The Asante album series followed: gospel harmony, live drums and deep house rhythm played with intention, carried to stages across Africa, Europe and North America. A Grammy nomination, an NAACP Image Award and a double platinum album later, the mission has not changed. The drums come first.
